The health insurance of foreign citizens is regulated by the Law for Health Insurance and the Law for the national health. According to these laws, foreign citizens and individuals without citizenship but with permission for permanent residence are able to use medical assistance and to be healthy insured.On their part, these individuals must pay health insurance installments – similar as those that Bulgarian citizens must pay. Foreign citizens and individuals without citizenship but who have a permit for long-term stay in the country, are also health insured.
